Team MGR Racing – WOT Performance Celebrates Championship Season in Las Vegas Finale

Las Vegas, NV October 14, 2007)

After clinching the ASC Racing Unlimited Class Championship at Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA two weeks ago, Team MGR Racing – WOT Performance approached the season finale in Las Vegas much more relaxed than in previous seasons when championship points were still at stake.

"It sure helps to wrap the championship with one race to go... last year at this time we were fighting very hard just to finish third in the points..." said MGR Racing Team Owner and lead driver Manuel Gil del Real.

Indeed, this season has been one of the most contested ones in ASC Racing history. This is the first year that this racing series has kept points for the new "Unlimited" class seeing racecars with as much as 700 horsepower negotiating high speed corners around seven different road courses in three states.

Team MGR Racing - WOT Performance, also partnering for the first time this season, has traveled more than 6,000 miles since the season started in Phoenix back in February. Their newly earned accolades are worth every mile spent on the road. The #27 Ford Taurus with Gil del Real behind the wheel, entered fourteen races accumulating six wins, seven poles, and seven fast laps at racetracks as varied in layout and setup requirements as Willow Springs, California Speedway, Buttonwillow, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway; a true display of the Team's ability to adapt and perform at the top level throughout the season.

The Team's debut in the new Unlimited class has also come at a high cost. "This is also the first time that we have needed three engines to complete the season. We have definitely learned that lesson too and our goal is to come back next season with a new engine program that will allow us to keep a single engine for the entire season," said Pete Andreas the Team's Technical Director.

"Right now, I think both Pete (Andreas) and I are really looking forward to the off season. It's been really hard for both of us to keep up with our race program the last couple of months but we also wanted to win the Championship more than anything else! Now we can sit back and take some time off before we start planning out our strategy for next season," added Manuel Gil del Real.

Team MGR Racing – WOT Performance would like to thank Perma Cool, Trinity Mufflers, and Ghaster Painting & Coatings, for their support throughout the season. We also want to thank the hundreds of fans in the US, Europe and beyond that have followed the Team's performance this year.

Team MGR Racing-WOT Performance Secures ASC Unlimited Championship at Laguna Seca

Monterey, CA (September 30, 2007) - A third place finish on Sunday’s ASC Race at Laguna Seca was enough for Team MGR Racing-WOT Performance to secure their first ASC Unlimited Championship with two races still remaining in the season.

This event at the renowned Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA was marked on every team’s calendar as one of the most significant of the season. Not only was this the first time ever that ASC Racing has competed at Laguna Seca, but this particular 11-turn road course is one of the most challenging and difficult to master for any driver coming from any series.

"It didn’t help that I went off course in the middle of the first and only practice session and got stuck in the gravel at the exit of turn five and unable to bring the car back to the track..." said Manuel Gil del Real. That off course incident also resulted in a broken oil line and after being pulled out of the gravel by a tow vehicle, the #27 WOT Performance Ford Taurus limped to the garage for quick repairs. Pete Andreas, the team’s Technical Director, once again saved the weekend and had the WOT sponsored machine ready to go just in time for the next qualifying session.

Gil del Real still managed to qualify with the fourth fastest time among all the ASC competitors with a 1:36.861 lap time around the 2.4 mile track. However with no more practice time available on the schedule the team had serious questions about how the car setup would hold up over a longer stint. While qualifying took place in the afternoon under warm temperatures, the race would not be until the following morning. To make matters more complicated, a heavy rain shower overnight washed off all the rubber from the circuit just before race time.

"It was a little frustrating because normally we have a short warm up session before we go racing that allows us to make minor adjustments. In this case, we knew the car set up was not quite right. The car was a bit tight but we opted to stick with a known condition rather than making a change that might make it worse," said Andreas before the race.

All in all, the MGR-Racing-WOT Performance team was well aware that they did not have a winning car this weekend. Laguna Seca is not the type of track where you can just compromise with the setup. At the beginning of Sunday’s race, the #27 Ford was able to move up a few positions but after a few laps, it became evident that going fast around the corners of this historic track was getting more and more challenging for the WOT machine. A third place finish is the best they could achieve, not a bad result, yet not good enough for this team’s high standards. "We have our season finale in Las Vegas in less than two weeks. This third place clinches the Championship for us and it also allows us to approach the Las Vegas races in a much more relaxed way. Now we are ready to do just that..." summed up Manuel Gil del Real.

Team MGR Racing - WOT Performance will now prepare for the final round of the ASC Racing season at Las Vegas Motorspeedway Outfield Road Course on October 12-14, 2007. For more information about the Team’s schedule, please visit www.mgrracing.net or http://www.wotperformance.com/.
