MGR Racing Moves to ASC Unlimited for 2007 Season
Phoenix, AZ, January 27, 2007. With just a few days before the 2007 season starts at PIR, Team MGR Racing is ready to start campaigning the #27 Ford Taurus in the newly created ASC Unlimited Class.
"The timing of this new class is great for us," says Manuel Gil del Real. "We had our engine building program focused on finishing the new 408 ci Ford engine that Michael Everett and I started building a few months back. Unfortunately, when Michael passed away after his long battle with cancer, he couldn't see it finished. I promised him that I would complete our project for him and race it as soon as it was built. With the help of Paul Duarte, the engine is now ready to run for the first time at PIR. What a great place to break it in since Michael and I had started our partnership at the same track twelve years ago!"
The "new" ASC will showcase the traditional crate-engine based ASC Class as well as the new ASC Unlimited Class, providing a great venue for all stockcar teams to bring their cars and race them in a competitive environment without the need to alter them to comply with any class rules.
