Team MGR Racing Finishes Third in the 2006 ASC Racing Season

Phoenix, AZ, December 11, 2006. A third place finish at PIR in the final ASC Race of the season was enough for Team Ghaster Painting MGR Racing and Manuel Gil del Real to consolidate his third place in the final standings.

Sixteen starts, 11 top five finishes, three 3rd places, four 2nd place finishes and one pole position sum up the most successful season for the team in the last four years. In the last five races, the #27 Ghaster Painting Ford Taurus has always finished in the top three building great momentum into the off season.

“It has been a long season and I’m really ready for the Winter break now,” says Manuel Gil del Real. “The car has really improved in the second half of the season. We had a couple of bad breaks at Infineon and Thunderhill where mechanical failure prevented us from scoring valuable points, but I’m very happy with our Third Place overall.”

Indeed, this has been the most competitive ASC season ever based on the number of drivers and teams participating and the level of competition. At the last race at Phoenix International Raceway, the top five drivers qualifying times were separated by less than half a second. The previous practice times showed the top three drivers lap times only eight hundredths of a second apart! Every little adjustment to the car’s setup could mean gaining or losing a number of positions in the time sheets.

Ralph Byers, who has been Team MGR’s Crew Chief for the 2006 Season has proven his expertise in setting up stockcars for the variety of road courses that make up the ASC schedule. “Working with Ralph has been fantastic. He has helped me improve as a driver by constantly fine tuning the racecar’s set up to accommodate my driving style.”

Team MGR Racing would like to thank Brad Ghaster, President of Ghaster Painting & Coatings (http://www.ghasterpainting.com/) for their support, Ross Thompson (http://www.rossthompsonracing.com/) for his unmatched coaching experience, MGR Consulting Group (http://www.mgrconsultinggroup.com/) for all their assistance with the Marketing and PR duties for the Team, and the hundreds of fans in the US, Europe and beyond that have followed the Team’s performance throughout the season.

Team Ghaster Painting MGR Racing Ready for PIR

Phoenix, AZ, December 6, 2006. With only two days to go before the last ASC event of the season, Team Ghaster Painting MGR Racing feels very confident about their chances for a podium finish, and possibly a win at their local track.

During the previous visit at PIR, Manuel Gil del Real finished second in both races, barely missing a win both days. "Two second places was not bad, but obviously it wasn't as satisfying as winning the race. I think this weekend we have a good chance to win a race and end the season on a very high note," says Manuel.

Although Ken Stinnett has already clinched the 2006 ASC Championship, all the rest of the drivers can still gain or lose positions in the overall standings depending on their results this weekend. Manuel Gil del Real is currently in third place, 65 points behind Belinda Endress and 58 points ahead of Mike Arnheiter.

The ASC races are scheduled to start at 2:20 PM on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, please visit www.MGRRacing.net
